Kennedy4PM: Why Gerard Kennedy Best Represents Every Region of Canada

Nationally

Gerard Kennedy with National policies such as his environment platform; his foreign policies, an example being his stance towards Afghanistan; his National Learning strategy; his Female Equality proposal; and countless others, he has demonstrated he represents Canada nationally. But Gerard also represents every region of Canada.

The West

Yesterday it was reported at Statistics Canada that BC and Alberta combined have a higher population then Quebec. As of 2006 British Columbia now has 4,310,452 people, Alberta has 3,375,763; together they have a total of 7,686,215 people. Quebec has a population of 7,651,531. Therefore when the next re-allignment of distribution of seats occur BC and Alberta will have more seats then Quebec. When you include the seats in Manitoba and Saskatchewan the west will be a powerful influence in the House of Commons. It is clear the distribution of population is changing, and such changes must be represented in a democracy such as Canada; Gerard Kennedy, the only candidate from the west will represent that change.

The Liberal Party has never had a Leader west of Ontario, Gerard Kennedy is from Manitoba, born and raised. He grew up playing hockey on an outside rink. Gerard has lived and attended school on Alberta, later running a National Food bank as well. He has family in BC as well, visiting them regularly. The endorsements from BC are too long to mention let alone the endorsements from Alberta, Saskatchewan, and his home province of Manitoba.

The west is becoming important in electing national parties for the Liberal Party to be a party of the future it must address the west. Gerard as a representative, as Leader will bring western concerns into the range of government.

Ontario

Gerard doesn't only have western roots. Gerard most notably has deep roots in Ontario, where he has lived for the past few years. Not only living in Ontario but governing it as well as Education minister. Gerard is regarded as one of the most effective provincial ministers. The programs and priorities he created and implemented are examples nation-wide. His support in Ontario is mirrored in the provincial MLA's who support his bid, not to mention the MP's and Senators as well.

Quebec

Gerard is at present living in Quebec, you can read more here. He is doing this to get a greater understanding of the grassroots in Quebec. I can admit to no other greater action of trying to represent a region then actually living in it.

Being fluent in French is one feature of Gerard Kennedy's focus in Quebec. He speaks the language, aided by his french speaking wife at home constantly, only perfecting it to represent the francophones of Quebec fuller. Kennedy has immense potential in Quebec as he lacks the baggage of other candidates.

Quebec senators and MPs, among other prominent Liberals realize the vast representation of Gerard Kennedy and back him. Adding to his list of endorsements, giving Gerard the second highest amount of the candidates.

The Maratimes

The support in the maratimes is substantial. The Maratimes face difficulty on economic issues and equality payments, Gerard Kennedy represents the region with a caring approach designed to reinvigorate the region. Of particular interest Gerard Kennedy's wife is from the region, thus the maratimes are constantly represented not just by Gerard but by his wife, Jeanette Arsenault-Kennedy who is from Prince Edward Island.
